We arrived at the rally early and there was no line checking in. Also only a few bikes in the parking lot.
The campsites looked a little close for comfort for us. And no shade. Later in the day the temperature was in the mid 90's. I'm glad we're roughing it in an air conditioned motel.
Their I go to the ice cream parlor - I just can't resist!
Chocolate shakes - ran into another rally attendee from Winston-Salem so we chatted for a while. Does this shake make me look fat??
Of course turn about is fair play. Helen got me so I had to get her back.
There are clocks and then there are Biltmore clocks.
Guarding the front door.
Gargoyles watch over the house.
The house details are incredible.
Just a small sense of scale - thet's Helen in blue in front of the house and I still couldn't gtet it all in.
Just a basic little greenhouse!
Just to prove we were really here together!
The bass pond waterfall.
One of Asheville's finest - very pleasant, and, no, it was all pleasure and no business! We just liked the way they painted the police on the cruiser with pictures of Asheville.
A new chain for us. We has supper their last night - OK, but nothing special.
DJ's Diner - a good place to stop in Asheville for basic home cooked meals. Breakfast is all day but doesn't start until 11???
DJ's Diner. I had the meatloaf and salad. Quite good.
Helen's burger - also a treat after a long day with little to eat. Beer battered onions rings and they were excellent!
Katie took very good care of us. The folks in the background thought we were crazy people taking pictures of our food. Made for fun conversation. Pretty soon the whole diner was involved in what we were up to. Great fun and a nice group of folks who will probably be shaking their heads about those crazy Yankees for a few days.
